1. About the platform

RakthDaan is a free, not-for-profit online service that helps people looking for blood connect with registered voluntary blood donors. We only facilitate contact between individuals. We are not a blood bank, hospital, laboratory, medical practitioner or emergency service, and we do not collect, test, store, transport or supply blood.

2. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years old to register as a donor or use the search.
  • You must verify your own mobile number by OTP. You may not register on behalf of another person or use someone else’s number.
  • You are responsible for keeping your phone and account secure and for all activity under your account.
  • Information you provide must be true, accurate and kept up to date, including your blood group and availability.

3. Acceptable use

You may use the platform only to find or offer voluntary blood donation for a genuine medical need. You agree not to:

  • Buy, sell or offer money or any reward for blood — this is prohibited by Indian law;
  • Contact donors for marketing, promotions, surveys, political, religious or any purpose other than a genuine blood requirement;
  • Harass, threaten, pressure or abuse any donor or user, or contact donors repeatedly after they decline;
  • Copy, scrape, harvest, export, publish or share donor data, or build any database or list from it;
  • Use bots, scripts or automated tools, or attempt to bypass OTP, reCAPTCHA, rate limits or security rules;
  • Create fake profiles, impersonate others or provide false medical or identity information;
  • Interfere with the platform’s operation, upload malicious code or attempt unauthorised access.

We may suspend or remove any account, listing or content, and report unlawful activity to authorities, at our discretion.

4. No guarantee of availability or suitability

  • Donors are volunteers. We do not guarantee that any donor will be found, will respond, will be available or will agree to donate.
  • We do not verify donors’ blood group, health status, eligibility or identity beyond mobile OTP verification. Information is self-declared.
  • Listing on the platform does not mean a donor is medically fit to donate.
  • Search results and distances are approximate and may be incomplete or out of date.

5. Your medical responsibilities

  • All blood donation and transfusion must take place at a licensed blood bank or hospital.
  • Patients, families and donors are solely responsible for following the instructions of the treating doctor, hospital and blood bank, including screening, testing and cross-matching.
  • Donors must answer health questions honestly at the blood bank and must not donate if unwell or ineligible.
  • In an emergency, do not rely only on this platform. Contact your hospital, nearest blood bank or emergency services (108).

6. Donor responsibilities

  • Keep your availability and details up to date, and switch availability off when you cannot donate.
  • You are free to decline any request. Never ask for or accept payment for donating blood.
  • Report suspicious or abusive contact to us promptly.

7. Privacy

Our use of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

8. Intellectual property

The platform’s design, text, graphics and code (excluding open-source components, which are governed by their own licences, and user-provided content) belong to RakthDaan or its licensors. You may not copy or reuse them without permission.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability or uninterrupted operation, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RakthDaan, its organisers, volunteers and partners shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential loss or harm — including injury, illness, delay in treatment or death — arising from the use of or inability to use the platform, any interaction between users, any information provided by users, or any blood donation or transfusion. Users interact with each other at their own risk.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless RakthDaan and its organisers from claims arising out of your misuse of the platform or breach of these terms.

12. Changes and termination

We may modify these terms or the platform, or suspend the service, at any time. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms. You may stop using the platform and delete your data at any time from Update / Remove Details.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at [city to be confirmed] shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to applicable law.
